Eyeliner can be tricky but done the right way and you’ve got your makeup on point. We all struggle with this little beauty product but if you’re just as bad at it like I am – you’ll find these tips useful.
Tips for Applying Eyeliner and Acing Your Look
1. There are 3 different types of eyeliner – the pencil, gel, and liquid.
Pencil eyeliner is easy to apply, but sometimes doesn’t spread as smoothly or thickly as gel or liquid liners.
Gel liners are matte and glide on easily. They sometimes come in a little pot with a brush.
Liquid liners are used for their precision, and usually come in tubes with a small brush, or “pen-style” with brush tips. They can take some time to dry after applying, though.

3. Do you have shaky hands like me? Here’s a tutorial to get that fixed.
1) Sit down.
2) Plant your elbow on a flat surface.
3) Rest your pinky on your cheek. Stabilizing yourself as much as possible = fewer (probably) jerky mess-ups.
4. Are you a beginner with liquid eyeliner? Start with dots along your lash line then slowly connect them!
You can also do the same with dashes.
5. When applying eyeliner, don’t make the mistake of lifting up the skin from the side of your eye. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn’t help your application. If you make a mistake, just wipe it clean.
6. Hide mistakes with concealer or primer
7. If you can’t achieve that perfect line, work backwards.
8. Try tightlining if you think the traditional way of applying eyeliner is a little too intense for you.
9. Apply translucent powder to your eyelids to avoid your eyeliner creating the crease
