We’re all very accustomed to our own beauty routines, and over time we begin to get more comfortable with them that the thought of adding tweaks or changes to it can be a little scary.
But did you know making a few minor adjustments can have a great effect? If you’re already doing these tweaks we’re suggesting below, then good on you! If not, why not get out of your comfort zone and give it a go?
1. Reduce your use of powder
Rather than powder on blush, switch it for a cheek stain that will give you a longer-lasting flush. Look for ones packed with natural ingredients like coconut oil and aloe – it looks better and is gentler on your skin.
2. Don’t clog your pores
If you’re currently using powder foundation or a heavy cream based one, try switching to liquid. It gives a more natural look and is easier on your pores. Usually one layer is sufficient and you have a little more control on the amount of product you apply. Don’t forget to apply a layer of primer first.
3. Nail treatment oil with almond
We think making sure your hands are always in their best condition is a great sign that you take care of yourself. It’s basic hygiene and seeing as our hands are exposed to many different conditions, we need to take care of them. If you’re currently using hand cream – good job! Up the ante and also invest in a nail treatment oil which you can apply at night before you sleep. Ones with almond oil are most effective and leave your cuticles looking great! It also helps in the long run, you reduce your need for a manicure (saving some money!).

4. Eye cream
Do you realise just how fragile the skin under our eyes is? Many of us contact lens wearers often pull down on the skin, rub our eyes, and in short – abuse the heck out of it. It’s no wonder you see premature signs of ageing more common, especially under the eye. Nothing is sexy about under eye wrinkles or bags or dark circles, investing in a great eye cream is worth it. If you need to pay a little more for it, do it.
5. Lip care
How many of you neglect your lips? It may seem like all we need to do is add lip balm, but getting a lip exfoliater is a good idea. Rid your lips of all its dry skin and flakiness. It will also make it appear more plump and juicy! Lipstick slides on easier and lasts longer.
6. Remove your make-up at night – ALWAYS
Now with make-up wipes, this is even easier to do and there’s really no excuse. Unless, well of course you find yourself staying over at a friend’s place and you aren’t prepared. Otherwise, this is a basic must. Your skin will thank you for this and you’ll feel so much better the next morning. Let’s not leave all the oil and grime on your skin, and definitely not with it clogged up with make-up. Let your skin breathe!
7. Make sunscreen your new best friend
Load up on that SPF, now with the sun a lot harsher you want to protect your skin against the harmful rays so look out for moisturisers and make-up products that come equipped with SPF.
