Amorepacific Malaysia, the beauty conglomerate that also owns renowned cosmetics brands like Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Innisfree, Ryo and Mise En Scene, will collaborate with Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme themed ‘Makeup Your Life’ this year.
Through the programme, Amorepacific Malaysia will offer makeup and skincare education to help cancer patients beautify themselves and regain self-confidence while they deal with changes in their physical appearance due to cancer treatment.
Margaret Chin, Country Manager of Amorepacific Malaysia said the programme aims to help cancer patients reenergize their daily lives with full confidence through various makeup tips and products. “We understand how women feel having to go through changes in their physical appearance due to treatments. We hope this initiative will help make a difference in the lives of those who are affected,” she said.
Bryan Lin, Chief Executive Officer of SJMC expressed his support for this initiative and collaboration with Amorepacific Malaysia. “Emotional support is equally important when it comes to treatment for our cancer patients. Therefore, this programme complements our centre’s supportive treatment in offering cancer patients the education and support they need to ease many aspects of daily life and, reminding them that they are still beautiful despite the challenges,” said Lin.
This year, the ‘Makeup Your Life’ programme is targeting to reach out to 160 cancer patients in SJMC. Several ‘Makeup Your Life’ workshops will be conducted between August and December 2022 in conjunction with SJMC’s 37th Anniversary.
What is ‘Makeup Your Life’ Programme?
The ‘Makeup Your Life’ programme is part of a ‘2030 A MORE Beautiful Promise’ Commitment by Amorepacific. The company is committed to invest KRW100 billion by 2030 to support the financial independence of socially vulnerable groups and to empower citizens to lead to healthier, more sustainable lives.
Implemented mainly in Korea and China, the initiative aims to help reduce the mortality rate and improve the lives of female cancer patients. In these two regions, the initiative extends to preventive education and screening measures to fund surgery for financially incapable women. By joining the UN-led movement called ‘Every Woman Every Child’, Amorepacific also carries out its obligation to the fullest as a responsible global citizen, thereby contributing to A MORE Beautiful World.
‘Makeup Your Life’ is a fun-filled educational event that will include a skincare and makeup class as well as health tips by healthcare professionals. The ‘Makeup Your Life’ programme has been conducted since 2008 starting with South Korea and later extended to the other regions which include China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
