Dr. Pane, Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Atlantic Coast Aesthetics, Said Patients Should Use a Variety of Methods to Select the Best Plastic Surgeon for their Facelift.
Through his work as Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Atlantic Coast Aesthetics, Dr. Thomas Pane knows that patient education is the single most important factor in determining the outcome of any cosmetic procedure. This belief inspired him to post a new blog and video that advises people on how they should go about choosing a plastic surgeon for their facelift.
A great place to start, Dr. Pane noted, is by asking friends and family members for recommendations. In addition to sharing their thoughts about the plastic surgeon, these people have tangible and visible evidence of the physician’s skill and ability.
In addition, Dr. Pane said, patients should think of a consultation with a plastic surgeon as a type of “job interview”.
“The patient should feel comfortable expressing opinions and concerns to the surgeon, and that the surgeon is truly listening and taking the time to fully explain the whys and hows of the procedure in a way that addresses and allays the patient’s fears,” he said, adding that if the patient doesn’t feel a good rapport with the surgeon, that surgeon’s education and skills are not going to mean much in the long term.
During the consultation, Dr. Pane said surgeons should be happy to show a pictorial resume of their “before and after” work to their potential new patients, and explain what was done and why. Reputable cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Pane said, will not only offer different options to their patients, but will also be able to explain why they believe a certain procedure or technique is best.
