Let’s confess, how many of us actually get to sleep 6-8 hours every night? With the busy lifestyle and work tasks that we need to complete every day, getting a good night’s sleep of 6-8 hours is nearly impossible. Well, you might already know that a good night’s sleep and weight loss have a strong correlation, how about the side effect of lack of beauty sleep?
According to a scientific study published by Royal Society Open Science journal and funded by Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University, it is officially shown that there is a connection between shut eye and perceived attractiveness. Yes, beauty sleep is a real thing!
In the studies, researchers photographed 25 participants after days of both restricted and normal sleep. They then asked 65 women to rate the study’s participants on the attractiveness, health, sleepiness, and trustworthiness. In addition, one’s face can visibly convey a lack of sleep via dark circles, swollen eyelids and etc.
After two consecutive days of just four hours of sleep a night and were photographed, they were viewed as less attractive, less healthy and less trustworthy.
As a conclusion, sleepy people can look less attractive and look sick, and healthy individuals will tend to avoid those who look ill in order to avoid disease. That is why we need to get enough of sleep every night. Try to drink a cup of warm milk to have a better sleep. On top of that, the next time you were invited to a party, do consider if you have gotten enough beauty rest.
