Urban Decay has always stood for the empowerment of women. Back in 2015, the brand launched The Ultraviolet Edge, their global initiative to empower women. Since launching The Ultraviolet Edge in 2015, Urban Decay has donated $1.28M to women’s empowerment nonprofits. In 2017, they plan to donate another $1 million, which is on the way to their five-year goal of $3 million.
In our search for organizations that embodied the mission of The Ultraviolet Edge, one of the key organizations we identified was Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, which gives women the opportunity to rebuild their lives in post-war Uganda. Through microloans and education, WGEF enables women to establish themselves as strong, independent business owners. Empowering these women to find their voice gives them the confidence to become leaders in their communities and fight for the rights of women everywhere.
