For the first time, Dior Science undertook this revolutionary approach to the skin called metagenomics, where the skin is looked at as a whole living organ and taking the skin’s flora, the upper layer of the skin essential to its natural beauty into account.
With Dior’s commitment to offering products that are gentler on the skin and more eco-friendly, the brand has purified all its products of parabens, minimizing the presence of silicone and petrochemical derivatives, while ensuring their exquisitely sensorial qualities. It has also undertaken to design environmentally responsible packaging by removing all unnecessary elements – leaflets, corrugated cardboard and cellophane – by decreasing the weight of glass, and by using inks predominantly of natural origin.
“On land, flora (the plant world) produces oxygen and the elementary molecules without which fauna couldn’t survive. In return, this same flora feeds on the residues of the animal world… It is a well-established natural cycle. In the same way, skin flora produce molecules essential to the proper functioning of the epidermis (sugars, lipids, etc.) and, in return, feed on certain products of skin cells: we witness the cycle of life on the scale of the skin.
