For over a decade, La Mer, has been committed to supporting the protection of ocean habitats for generations to come through charitable donations, awareness-raising initiatives and local marine beautification projects. This month, the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund was launched with a focus on supporting Marine Protected Areas (MPA) and strengthening La Mer’s ongoing ocean conservation efforts around the globe.
Marine Protected Area (MPA) are protected areas of seas, oceans, estuaries or large lakes. MPAs restrict human activity for a conservation purpose, typically to protect natural or cultural resources.
“We are thrilled to be launching the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund and are honored to join a change-making community of explorers, advocates and hands-on conservationists that are making a difference all over the world,” says Sandra Main, Global Brand President, La Mer.
Working in partnership with ocean conservation organization Project 0, La Mer sponsored an art trail to help effect real change for the ocean through art, awareness and connectivity.
The La Mer Wave Walk in aid of Project 0 included 50 works of art designed by artists, tastemakers and conservationists. The art installations was unveiled throughout New York City leading up to World Oceans Day on June 8. Culminating with an auction, 100% of net proceeds from the auction will benefit the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund and Project 0 to help support restoring and protecting MPAs around the world.
