Sunscreen is a must-have in your beauty routine, no matter the weather! We recently attended a fun and informative suncare masterclass hosted by Beautyblender, Ultra Violette, and Sephora Malaysia, featuring the renowned dermatologist Dr. Ingky. Here’s the scoop on protecting your skin and rocking the latest sun-savvy beauty tools.
Sunscreen: Your Daily BFF
- Sunscreen is your BFF against premature-aging! Dr. Ingky recommends applying enough sunscreen – about 2/3 of your index finger for half your face.
- Reapply is key! Especially outdoors, reapply sunscreen every 3-4 hours. You can use a special UV camera mirror to check coverage, but otherwise, aim for reapplication every few hours.
- Don’t skip sunscreen indoors! Blue light from electronic devices can damage your skin too. So, sunscreen is a must, even when you’re chilling at home.
Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreens: Choosing Your Shield
- Mineral sunscreens (like those with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) create a physical barrier on your skin, reflecting UV rays. They’re great for high protection but might feel thicker and chalky.
- Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays by changing their chemical structure to minimise sun damage. They’re often lighter but may need more frequent reapplication and may cause breakouts for sensitive skin.
- If you have sensitive skin, opt for mineral sunscreens to avoid breakouts, or consult a dermatologist to find the right sunscreen for you.
Beautyblender: The New Efficient Way to Apply Sunscreen
The masterclass introduced the limited-edition Beautyblender Sunshade makeup sponge. This clever tool helps apply sunscreen evenly and quickly. Simply wet the sponge, squeeze out excess water, apply your sunscreen from the tip to the bottom of the sponge, then “bounce” the sunscreen onto your face in a tapping motion. The unique design minimises product waste and ensures a flawless finish. Plus, it comes in cute orange shade with a fun sunshade design!
Beautyblender is releasing a special Kuala Lumpur edition sponge in celebration of the upcoming Malaysia’s Independent Day. This vibrant blue sponge features iconic landmarks and will be available in stores and online from July 11th, so grab yours before they’re gone!
Ultra Violette: Australian Sun Protection Powerhouse
The masterclass also featured Ultra Violette, a leading Australian SPF brand. Their “SKINScreens” meet strict regulations and come in various forms like creams, serums, and liquids to suit your needs. Popular choices include Queen Screen, Supreme Screen, and Fave Fluid. Plus, all their products are gentle enough for even sensitive skin!
Head to Sephora Malaysia stores or their website at Sephora. My to find both Beautyblender and Ultra Violette products. Remember, sunscreen is an essential part of your skincare routine, so embrace the sun safely and keep your skin healthy and radiant!
