The haze problem in Malaysia is a recurring annual event since 1997 and the situation has been getting worsen this year with more areas recording unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings. The Education Ministry had ordered schools in few states and the federal territories to close on Monday and some on Tuesday of this week as the air quality worsened due to the haze. The API readings as of September 28 at 2 p.m. for Malacca and Johor still remained at unhealthy levels between 110 to 132.
With the weather clouded in haze, we must know how to protect ourselves against the haze. Many peoples have taken precautions by staying indoors, but that doesn’t mean we should stop our regular exercise or workout. 1. Yoga
Start with some beginner poses such as mountain pose, bridge pose, and triangle pose. It can improve digestion and boost your immunity, as well as improve your brain function.
2. Jump Rope
Jumping rope is good exercise and lots of fun. You can burn 135 calories in just 10 minutes with the jump rope workout and will also sculpt your shoulders, chest, arms, and legs.
3. Sit-Ups & Push-Ups
Situps and pushups help tone and develop lean and strong muscles. Situps work your core and lower back muscles; pushups work upper and lower body muscles. With regular practice, these exercises will help you maintain good stamina, balance and health.
4. Stair Stepping
Stair stepping is a great exercise to do at home, you may not work up a sweat like you would with a jump rope, but you will be keeping your body active and healthy.
5. YouTube Workouts
There are a lot of workout routines on YouTube and you can search by the specific type of workout that you would like. There are tons of videos that instruct you on how to use correct form as you exercise.
