If you like children, you will not want to miss this ad, which involves “baby” versions of famous athletes.
Named “Unlimited Future”, Nike’s first Olympics ad opens on a nursery full of future sports stars, including diaper-clad LeBron James, Serena Williams, Neymar, Zhou Qi and Mo Farah.
The one-minute-and-20-seconds ad shows American actor Bobby Cannavale, delivers a rousing inspirational message to the infant version of Nike athletes. Cannavale tells them that life’s basically “messed up” and they don’t get a say in where they are born, what they are called, whether their whole family has to leave the country or anything else that happens to them as a baby.
“Listen up, babies!” he growls, before kicking off the motivational speech that will shape these tiny future-athlete brains in ways that would make Freud fist-pump.
Directed by indie movie director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), the purpose of “Unlimited Campaign” is to inspire everyone to push their potential further than ever expected by embracing an unlimited mindset, with its message that “champions aren’t born, they’re made.” Well done, Nike.
