This World Oral Health Day, Philips is committed to educating and encouraging people around the world to take a smart approach to caring for the health of their mouth, teeth and gums.
With oral disease affecting 3.9 billion people worldwide, and untreated tooth decay impacting almost half of the world’s population (44%), Philips aims to encourage preventive care at each stage – from infancy to adulthood and right up to old age.
According to Muhammad Ali Jaleel, Chief Executive Officer for Philips Malaysia, “This World Oral Health Day, we want people to make smart decisions about their oral health and help them recognise when they might need to give their oral hygiene routine more attention.”
“It is worrying that statistics show that in Malaysia, only a minority practice the recommended oral healthcare routine. In 2015, only 27.8% of the population visited a dentist in the span of one year, while as many as 37.0% of the population had never received oral healthcare,” added Muhammad Ali Jaleel.
FDI World Dental Federation’s 2017 World Oral Health Day campaign ‘Live Mouth Smart’ looks to encourage people worldwide to take control of their oral health – throughout their lifetime – so that they can enjoy a healthy mouth from childhood into old age.
