The Square (‘H’ Shape)

The H shape bum is caused by either higher hip bones, or a distribution of fat in the love handle area. As a result, the butts tend to appear flat and square shaped, rather than tapering to the waist with a smooth curve. Opt for core or glute exercises to lose excess fat around the waist area and firm your butt.

The Round (‘O’ Shape)

Widely known as bubble butts because of their round appearance. This shape is recognised as the most attractive one; it is perky and full.

A round shape is good and healthy. Hence being ‘O’ shaped lowers the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Although there may be some fat storage at the upper part of the butt, it is still easy to burn any extra fat from the bottom if needed.

The Heart/Pear (‘A’ Shape)

The heart or pear shape is generally recognised as the most feminine and desirable shape. But in terms of health it may be signs of high cholesterol due to the fat distribution around the butt and thighs, which caused primarily by the hormone Estrogen.

The V (‘V’ Shape)

If the line between your pelvis and hips angles inward, your butt takes on a V shape from behind.

V shape is the most common butt shape among older women once they have started losing estrogen. As you age, the fat from the butt starts to move to other parts of the body hence the muscle is loose. If you have this butt type, you should focus your workout on your thighs and make sure it includes a lot of movement in order to tone and firm up your glutes and tights.
