Most of us do not realise that we should avoid touching certain parts of our body with our bare hands. This is because particular bacteria from one place might spread off to your hands or face.
If you do not maintain proper hygiene, these bacteria that accumulate on your hands can easily give you serious health issues.
So, what are the body parts that you should not touch with your bare hands? And what happens if you do? Let’s have a look.
1. Eyes
Our sight is one of the most important and precious senses we have. It can be very painful and annoying when we suffer even minor infection on our eyes. That being said, it’s very common for people to use their bare hands to rub their eyes. The eyes can get sensitive when touched with filthy hands which may lead to serious infections.
Always remember to:
- Wash your hands before touching your eyes
- Use tissue if you need to wipe tears off your eye
- Avoid using any foreign objects or elements into the eye.
2. Vagina
Our vaginas are one of the most intimate parts of our body, and it’s also the most private part of our body. It’s vey important to make sure that our hands are clean before touching with our hands, you must always maintain good hygiene.
The risk of touching this area with dirty hands is that bacteria and germs can cause all kinds of infections.
A very common mistake made by most women is washing vagina with soap, shampoo and water. It’s highly advisable to not use soap or shampoo for intimate areas instead use proper intimate wash.
3. Ears
You should never insert your fingers in your ears, or scratch your inner ears with your finger nails. These two actions can cause internal injuries that eventually become infected.
First, remember that the ear has wax, which serves to prevent the passage of bacteria. Therefore, you should not try to remove all the wax. A simple cotton bud will do the job in removing excessive ear wax.
4. Face
Yes, this is something almost impossible to do on a daily basis, but you should always avoid touching your face with your bare hands.
There are many reasons why you should do so, firstly when you touch a certain part of your face you’re directly carrying bacteria and germs from your hand into the skin of your face.
This can easily block pores on the face which will likely cause annoying pimples, blackheads and rashes.
