After the launch of Sephora’s #GlamRaya last week, we had a little chat with the creator of the four Raya looks himself, renowned makeup artist, Tiar Zainal, together with one of his longtime friend, muse and celebrity, Scha Alyahya on their beauty tips for the coming Hari Raya season. Both of them came in the colour theme too, which shows how in sync they are.
1.Which is your favourite look of out the 4 makeup looks?
Tiar: I love them all but if I have to choose, it’ll be Cool Babe and Edgy Chic because it’s very modern and in-trend.
2. How did you get the inspiration to create these 4 looks?
Tiar: Taking notes from some of my previous creations, I improvised it by either changing the colour of the eyes or lips, deepening the crease and more. I actually imagined Scha when I created the Edgy Chic look. But in general, I created these four looks for all women, for the busy mums, they can go for the Classic Chic look and if you like a more dramatic look, you can go for the Cool Babe look.
3. For Scha, which is your favourite part of the makeup he has created for you?
Scha: I like how he did my eyes because I have almond shaped eyes so it’s a bit difficult to work with but since he has done my makeup since I got into this industry so he knows how to work with my features. One thing I also noticed is that Tiar doesn’t really use blush on me, just contour and highlight.
4. What is your favourite Sephora Collection product?
Tiar: I love all of it because I didn’t expect it to be of such good quality and it’s so affordable The foundation, eyeshadow, blusher, powder, but the creamy lip stain is really unbeatable for its quality and price.
Scha: My favourite is the Cream Lip Stain which is the one that he used on my lips, the Pink Latte shade. I’m really surprised at the quality and the affordability because most people would rather go for branded makeup and not try other brands.
5. Do you change your Raya look for every year?
Scha: For me, as someone who doesn’t really know how to use makeup, I would go for something simple and natural makeup that feels comfortable, light, don’t get greasy and last throughout the day because my schedule can be pretty busy with my work and kids.
6. Do you have any Raya season beauty tips to share with your fans?
Tiar: You need to put makeup during Hari Raya, you just need to! Always prep your skin before applying your makeup with the three-step skincare then lip conditioner, and primer. You have to set your makeup with loose powder too to make your makeup last the whole day.
Scha: I agree with Tiar on wearing makeup during Hari Raya season because you are visiting a lot of people and you’ll be taking a lot of photos so you have to look good. After those steps, the most important thing is the setting spray. Cause of the weather, I would suggest going for minimal or a light foundation, then play with the lip colours to make it edgy.
