Be ready to sing along and do the hustle to the tunes of the Bee Gees at Saturday Night Fever The Musical
The long waiting Saturday Night Fever The Musical is finally coming up this Friday, September 4 at the Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur! The disco fever reaches its zenith with the arrival of the cast and crew of the musical in Malaysia. They will be performing thirteen shows over nine days from September 4 to 13, 2015.
Before they take the stage in the opening show on September 4, the leading stars of Saturday Night Fever The Musical gave a teaser on what to expect at a special media meet-and-greet event at Johnny Rockets Pavilion KL today. Principal performers Brandon Rubendall, Jenna Rubaii and Nick Varricchio who plays Tony, Stephanie and Double J respectively for this musical, were in attendance at this event together with the official organizer Milestone Production Managing Director, Grace Lee.
Prior to joining Saturday Night Fever The Musical, Brandon had been on many tours for stage performances which include Wicked, Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark and Hairspray, and had also performed alongside Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce.
The co-star Jenna was also the cast for the great musicals such as Grease, Pride and Prejudice and 54 Forever. These two seasoned stage performers certainly piqued our excitement with their sneak-peak performance at the meet-and-greet session.
Nick Varricchio who plays Double J in the musical was born and raised in Cleveland and has performed in Broadway and have been on many musical tours which include ‘A Chorus Line’ , ‘Spring Awakening’ , ‘Cabaret’ , ‘Chicago’ , ‘Into The Woods’ ; ‘Cinderella’ and many more.
Under the watchful eye of award-winning director Bobby Garcia, Saturday Night Fever The Musical 2015 will be imbued with a slight contemporary edge while retaining the film’s grittiness and realistic portrayal of the disco era. Its showcase of hit music and electric dance moves is true entertainment value at its best.
Saturday Night Fever tells the story of Tony Manero, a young Italian-American man with a talent for dance. As immortalized forever by the performance of John Travolta in the 1977 film that inspired the musical, Tony has only one ambition: to become the disco king. When he meets Stephanie Mangano, who also dreams of a life beyond the city, they decide to train together for a dance competition and their lives are changed forever.
