APOLOGY STATEMENT

We deeply and sincerely apologize for our recent “Legenda Cun Raya” video which was released on social media in Malaysia. The 15-minute video was inspired by the Malay legend Dayang Senandong made popular in the 1965 movie “Dayang Senandong’. It was our intention to convey concepts of inner and outer beauty, unfortunately the video instead offended many.
Regretfully, we acknowledge that the “Legenda Cun Raya” video is not in-line with the values that we hold dearly in Malaysia. Watsons Malaysia takes responsibility for the video and its content and is truly sorry that some elements have offended the general public.
Watsons Malaysia following the feedback from the general public, immediately removed the video and we appreciate your honest feedback especially leading into an important celebration like Hari Raya.
Moving forward we will continue to listen to the general public and our loyal customers. On behalf of Watsons Malaysia we humbly seek your forgiveness and deeply regret any harm that we have caused.
Watsons Malaysia launched its Hari Raya campaign yesterday with the premiere of its epic digital movie, “Legenda Cun”, a one of kind movie inspired by the glorious days of Malay cinematography era of P.Ramlee movies such as Ali Baba Bujang Lapok.

“This year, we offer something unique and different that is relevant for all. This epic digital movie was carefully scripted to inject Watsons brand identity to include humour, wit and also over the top acting and characters,” said Danny Hoh, Customer Director of Watsons Malaysia.
Fronted by leading actor, Kamal Adli who plays as Saudagar Kaya Al-Kazam, a rich man of an unknown kingdom holding a worldwide singing contest to search for his princess that he dreamt of who had a beautiful voice. Playing princesses from different places are Ruhainnies as Harum Senandung, Amber Chia as Puteri Hang Po Po, Thanuja Ananthan as Nong Nak, Raja Ilya as Puteri Gunung Rendang, and other famous stars.
The full version of “Legenda Cun” will appear on Watsons Malaysia’s Facebook and Youtube channel from 7th June 2017 onwards.
