Former Miss Universe Malaysia 2017, Samantha Katie James has passed her reign to the newly crowned successor of Miss Universe Malaysia 2018, Jane Teoh from Penang. The finale was held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 11 January 2018.
Standing 178cm tall, the 20-year-old Accounting and Finance student/part-time model from Penang also won the Miss Online Personality title and will be representing Malaysia on the international stage at Miss Universe 2018, yet-to-be-revealed location. She will also receive a cash prize of RM50,000, sponsored prizes worth over RM150,000 and a full education scholarship from HELP University.
Emcees for the Gala Night were actor Stephen Rahman-Hughes and Miss Universe Malaysia 2012, Kimberley Leggett who kept the crowd excited for the big reveal.
Following her lead is the first runner-up 22-year-old Alexis SueAnn Seow Su-Yin, second runner-up 20-year-old Liliana Fernandez, and third runner-up 22-year-old Jasebel Shalani Robert.
This year, the Gala Night judges consisted of nine personalities and industry players including General Manager of L’Oreal Malaysia Luxe Division, Lau Sook Ping, Miss Universe Malaysia 2008 Levy Li, Miss Universe Malaysia 2011, Deborah Henry, Founder and Vice President of CERES Jewels, Dato’ Sri Navneet Goenka, actor-producer Dato’ Hans Isaac, Director of Marketing at ZALORA Malaysia Kiriat Argenio, Miss Universe Singapore 2002 Nuraliza Osman, Chief Operating Officer at Glojas Health Clinic by Smart International Aesthetic Datin Selwinder Kaur and celebrity hairstylist Miko Au.
Throughout the night, guests were entertained by a mix of performances from established as well as new acts include an opening number by Stephen Rahman-Hughes while upcoming singer Dasha Logan performed a duet with Yazmin Aziz, the third prize winner of hurr.tv’s recent online talent show, Bakat Ohsem Malaysia (BOM). Urban street dance group Nasty Rock Crew who was the second prize winner of BOM also took the stage later with an energetic dance performance. Other acts of the night included bohemian diva Ushera and 13-year-old singer, Aqeesh Aleya who delivered a powerful performance. The teenager recently struck gold when she bagged the grand prize at Bakat Ohsem Malaysia (BOM), earning her RM100,000 and a Proton Saga 1.3(A) for her winning performance.
To end the night, guests were mesmerised with the amazing vocals of popular singer-songwriter Yuna.
During boot camp held several months earlier, the girls underwent a makeover, numerous
challenges, photo shoots and eliminations, and six girls with the highest scores secured themselves a spot in the Top 10. The six were Alexis SueAnn, Nathasha Aprillia, Kaayathri, Jaipreet Dhillon, Charmaine Chew and Liliana Fernandez. During Gala Night, the remaining four finalists who succeeded in advancing to the Top 10 were Jane Teoh, Jasebel Robert, Mellisa Wong and Shannen Jade.

Additionally, the Most Inspiring by HELP University was awarded to Dahinoor John, a Top 50 finalist of the pageant.
Earlier in the week at the Preliminaries round held in Zouk Kuala Lumpur, the following subsidiary titles were given out:

Face of Fitology – Mellisa Wong
Face of La Juiceria – Alexis SueAnn
Miss Congeniality – Nathasha Aprillia
