Fashion and art collides as luxury fashion brand, BONIA partnered with Kakiseni, a non-profit platform that promotes the arts to launch BONIA’s first contemporary fashion-art collaboration, Bonia X Kakiseni. The launch was held at BONIA’s first flagship boutique at Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur.
This collaboration is aimed to reach out and build fruitful ties with contemporary Malaysian artists to support local artists through new opportunities for them to thrive. BONIA commissioned two local artists, Long Thien Shih and Monica Lee to produce three original artworks each that portray the story of BONIA through their eyes.
“This partnership between BONIA and Kakiseni is a welcome development for Malaysian fashion and art and one that is long overdue. These kinds of collaborations are flourishing all over the world in developed and developing countries and the outcome are better profits for their homegrown fashion brands and more exposure for their artists and so we are positive that BONIA’s example will be a positive one for other brands to follow,” said Low Ngai Yuen, President of Kakiseni.
With over 50 years of professional art experience, Long Thien Shih’s first artwork titled, ‘Life’ encapsulate the brand identity of BONIA as vibrant and fashion forward with visual cues representing the ingredients of life, the sun, air and water.
Working as a digital artist for 12 years, Monica Lee creates realism art portraits of people and animals and for BONIA, she created the ‘Majestic Beauty’ where she has chosen the spotted Jaguar to showcase BONIA’s identity of modern, elegance and beauty.
