Lady boss Rihanna has outdone herself yet again. It was an adrenaline rush of a show at FENTY PUMA by Rihanna SS18 as BMX bikers performed insane X-games stunts to open the show. The new collection sees a different outtake than the past season in scaled down silhouettes. High-octane motocross, surfing and rock climbing athleisure combined in great spectacle against pink sand dunes, heading for all things extreme for the new season.
In the mix was biker shorts, skin tight Lycra with motocross stripes and slogans, racing pants, windbreakers, transparent and waterproof hoodies as well as swimwear, a new addition to the line. Looks were styled with flip-flop heels, giant fanny packs, bungee cord lace-up shoes, and many came equipped with athletic buckles and straps emblazoned with PUMA branding and also surf terms like “wet” and “drowning” stamped across light outerwear and swimsuits.
The vibrant colour combination includes classic sports-clashing fiery red and black, navy and shocking pink and army green and neon green. There were super body-con alongside oversized jackets that was more street-industrial hybrid. A cut-out one-piece and an underwire mini dress with straps has a sexy, sultry vibe while men’s sported baggy khaki with neon pink buckle belt and race jacket with zipper detailing on the front. Another cool element was the white socks and slides combo which we think only a few could pull off.
Rihanna has created another memorable runway moment with streetwear that is cool and arguably unique in its own right that it’s a no brainer that her PUMA collaboration profits skyrocketed to over 90%. With a successful makeup line, countless fashion collab and her global mega-stardom, the only question left is “what will Rihanna do next?”.
