ASICS SportStyle will unveil a new model of sneakers inspired By Malaysia’s Twin Towers – the first-of-its-kind GEL-LYTE™ III “Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers” sneakers – through a joint effort with multi-label retail store, Hundred% alongside Malaysia’s biggest sneaker event, SneakerLAH, which will take place online this year.
Leveraging on contemporary synergy between fashion and architecture, the sneaker infuses the style, comfort and technology of the ASICS GEL-LYTE™III series and drawing inspiration from Malaysia’s iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers – once the tallest buildings in the world while still being the tallest twin towers in the world today. The result is a timeless and emblematic classic, which represents future forwardness, ambition and the bold exploration of the unexplored.
The design features metallic grey colourway, representing the metallic aesthetics of the Twin Towers while shades of grey capture the various nuances of the famed landmark. Green highlights on the heel cup and a translucent green outsole represent the buildings’ window tint when viewed from the inside and outside respectively. Meanwhile, ASICS’ Stripes take on an iridescent allure, represent the reflection of the tower’s windows during different times of the day, completed with a green translucent sole to mimic a visitor’s vision looking out or in from the tower’s windows.
Only a limited quantity of 500 pairs will be made available through online raffle on SneakerLAH on 3rd and 4th December and on Hundred% on 12th and 13th December. Winners will be announced following the raffle, before the shoes are packed and shipped to their owners, who can stand as tall and proud as the twin towers themselves!
The introduction of the GEL-LYTE™III “Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers” sneakers rides on the heels of the immense success of the ‘Nasi Lemak Shoe’ last year, based on the retro silhouette of the GEL-KAYANO™5 OG sneaker. The design saw the initiation of the brand’s joint effort with Hundred% and SneakerLAH, which also marked the foray of ASICS in the local sneaker scene.
