During a time when the smallest of treasures and exchanges are increasingly precious, the designers at BONIA set out to explore the everyday objects and tomes that inspire and drive us in challenging times. The brand’s latest Spring 2021 collection, called “Objects of Desire”, draws inspiration from these sources of verve with a diverse collection of designs both classic and modern, available in boutiques and online starting early January 2021.
Photographed by Paris-based Malaysian photographer Michele Yong, the campaign places the collection’s signature styles in the forefront of an aesthetic, atmospheric set, featuring the Camilla Re-Edition (a reimagined 2002 classic) and the Naiara, with a quilted detailing inspired by hand-painted Peranakan. Each style ushers past elegance into the present with a thoroughly modern, minimalist feel.
Camilla Re-Edition
A re-edition of the 2002 classic, this versatile shoulder bag encapsulates the vivacious energy that permeated the early aughts. The new Camilla receives an update with the House’s special edition magnified Monogram and metal Neu B logo, and an electrifying range of colourways. Every purchase also includes the accompanying ‘baby Camilla’.
The Camelia Re-Edition comes with an adjustable strap that can be adjusted to three different lengths – short length for shoulder bag, middle length for sling bag and long length for crossbody. The add-on mini-Camilla also comes with detachable strap to be worn cross-body.
Naiara
Inspired by Art Nouveau Peranakan tiles, which were often hand-painted and decorated the homes and shops throughout Malaysia’s Nyonya communities, the padded Naiara bag evokes past elegance with a thoroughly modern, minimalist influence. The quilted eye-catcher comes in a range of easy-to-wear hues, and features a subtle, monochromatic Neu B logo and two detachable straps for countless styling options. The bag comes with multi-detachable strap and upscaled golden chain for additional shorter strap.
