Collaborations are aplenty in the fashion world as of late, generating buzz as news broke when they hit the press. Next up to leverage on the branding exercise is British luxury fashion house Burberry, which is teaming up with punk legend Vivienne Westwood on a limited-edition collection of reworked-British-staples-meets-Westwoods-archive.
Let’s be honest, without Riccardo Tisci’s move to Burberry the collaboration might never happen. Tisci, who successfully put Givenchy in the limelight as one of the most coveted brands, is known for blending streetwear with luxury and doing things a little differently. Launching December 2018 in lieu with the rainforest charity Cool Earth, the partnership will bring punk influence to British classics.
“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something. She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together,” Tisci said in a statement regarding the collaboration.
Tisci shared the news on his personal Instagram three days ago, expressing his excitement on what’s to come apart from his first collection for Burberry which will show in September 2018.
