H&M sportswear line For Every Victory collection finally hit stores and online.
In conjunction of the launches, the apparel brand has also released a video campaign titled “Every Victory” with Caitlyn Jenner who is the new face for H&M Sport at the forefront of the ads. The video was created to celebrate “the power of sport and self-belief to transform people’s lives,” H&M said in an official statement.
In the short video below, the former Olympic gold medalist in decathlon talks about her early struggles with gender issues and how early introduction to sports helped her to stand up for her identity.
Jenner says, “I truly believe in the power of sports to bring positive change to people’s lives. This is why I’m so proud to be part of the For Every Victory campaign, because it reminds me of the strength and bravery of people around the world to be their authentic selves and overcome any obstacles that may come their way.”
Featured alongside Jenner are athletes such as Chelsea Warner, a gymnast who has never let Down syndrome halt her progress; surfer Mike Coots who still takes to his board even though he lost his leg in a shark attack and boxer Namibia Flores who has fought against prejudice to pursue her dreams.
Besides that, the film also features British gay rugby team King Cross Steelers, which has helped change perceptions about sexual orientation and sports; a female skate crew who think of their sport as a universal language and a form of creative expression; and Jose Aballi who won’t let any obstacles stop his dream of becoming a professional baseball player.
Check out the video below, followed by an interview with Jenner where she expands upon her own coming out process.
