Do you pick your shoe based on style or comfort?
Generally speaking, they say flats are better for your physique right? But did you know that women actually need a little bit of heel to support the natural arch in their feet. Wearing completely flat shoes aren’t good for you either and can lead to some back aches.
We also know that wearing stilettos on a daily basis isn’t great for us either, so how do you decide when to wear heels or flats? How high should your heels be? What type of flats support you best?
Some Points to Consider
1. Which are Sexier – Flats or Heels?
Firstly, flats can be just as stylish as heels. These days there are usually the flat/heel equivalent to a shoe design. It’s how you wear it that makes it work and how you project your inner confidence. Heels often make us feel sexier or more confident because of those few inches of added height, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look flattering in a pair of flats. We say pick the best shoe for the occasion and wear whatever makes you feel best.
2. Follow this Tip from French Girls
Here’s a little rule of thumb the ever chic French women use, if you’re wearing a long dress or skirt – opt for heels. If you’re wearing a mini skirt of a shorter dress – opt for flats.
3. Save the Heels for a Special Event or Occasion
Perhaps you rather dress for comfort rather than style; then why not save your heels for special occasions or events? On a daily basis, rock your ballerina flats or trainers or loafers. But when you’re heading out to a wedding or a special date, switch them up for a sassy pair of heels. This shows that you’ve made an effort to dress-up and that while you may be laid-back on a daily basis; that you can clean up really nice when you need to.
4. Ace the Corporate Look
In most job interviews or corporate jobs, wearing a classic black pump heel works best. It’s not only that it looks more polished, but it also gives you added height, more confidence, makes you feel slightly more empowered and you have a powerful step as you walk around the office space. If you don’t like to wear them on a daily basis to work, keep a spare at your desk that you can switch into whenever you have a big presentation, a big meeting or need to greet a special guest.
5. Put on Your Dancing Shoes
Now this is often a silent debate for most women as we dress up for a night out. Do we wear a pair of heels that fit the theme of the night but we KNOW will kill our feet by the time we’re mid-way through the night dancing to our favourite tunes? Or do we wear a pair of stylish and comfortable flats that may not give the same visual effect as a pair of heels do, but it’ll have us up on the dance floor all night and that may translate to having more fun and looking more confident. Either find a pair of heels that don’t hurt your feet too much, or go for those flats because the pain just isn’t worth it by the time you feel like walking barefoot along the streets.
