Paris Fashion Week is nowhere near finished, but its catwalks have already revealed some strong beauty looks for Autumn / Winter 2016.
Perhaps the look that generated the most headlines came courtesy of Balmain, where Creative Director Olivier Rousteing took his army of It models and mixed things up by dressing them in color swap wigs. The world was therefore treated to a blonde Kendall Jenner and Alessandro Ambrosio, a brunette Gigi Hadid, Lily Donaldson and Rosie Huntington-Whitely.
Hair was also the talking point at Manish Arora, where Bright red lips and rainbow took center stage. The models’ heads were piled high with crimped, wavy, bouffant locks in vibrant blues and pinks. The makeup was bold, too, featuring brow-high eyeshadow in opaque pastel shades and eye wateringly scarlet lips.
The lipstick was more coral-toned but no less striking at Paco Rabanne, and remained a classic, statement red at Guy Laroche, where it was teamed with pale bases for maximum effect. Dior stole the show with black Gothic style pouts that screamed attitude, while at Maison Margiela the models’ lips were outlined in thick liner, with the rest of the mouth left bare for a slightly abstract, artistic look.
However, it hasn’t all been about the lips — the eyes were the main event at Dries Van Noten, smudged with deep grey and black shadow right out to the temples, in the style of illustrator Gill Button. Things were a little lighter over at Courrèges, where pale iridescent color shimmered at the inner corner of the eyes.
