KENZO women’s collection Spring/Summer 2016 features an unexpected mix of elements…
The silhouette is clashed and layered and lengths are shrunken with proportions to match. Short hemlines appear on lyrical skirts and dresses. Volumes on skirts are set with irregular godets. Trousers are relaxed with ease in wide and tapered versions. Zigzag seams appear on trousers and tops and provide graphic relief. Triangular and rectangular hardwear – a nod to traveler’s backpacks – is affixed to dresses and tops. Garments in silk are patched together with materials in fil coupe or jacquard. Swimwear is worn deconstructed and as underwear.
The color palette is a cacophanous melange. Prints are inspired by traditional weaving techniques, graphic houndstooth and chevron patterns.
