Khoon Hooi Spring 2018 collection of ready-to-wear pieces brought in some utilitarian touches together with scattered decorative detailing such as elaborate buckles and oversized pockets to Khoon Hooi͛s signature structured silhouette.
It’s also the beginning of Khoon Hooi’s venture into Demi-couture as the designer released three pieces to test the waters and after the great feedback, Khoon Hooi has decided to continue creating demi-couture pieces for coming seasons.
Khoon Hooi’s first three demi-couture pieces revolve primarily around tulle and feathers in romantic shades that embodies Spring.
You can’t help but notice the little details of embellishment on each gown.
While, the rest of the Spring 2018 Ready-to-wear pieces saw fabrics such as brocade, tulle and taffeta, played up with shades of melon and sage. From feathers and hand-stitched jewel-toned crystals accents on key pieces such as the Henrietta (a safari-inspired evening dress) is a dreamy concoction of tulle and taffeta, featuring an oversized crystal-encrusted buckle, and the Fae, an elegant acid floral frock with crystal beadwork ͚badges͛.
Another key silhouette seen in the collection infuses corsetry. Brocade-embellished corsets are fitted over the Veronique evening gown and voluminous white blouse to accentuate the waistline.
The Spring 2018 collection also embraced the exaggerated sleeves, tulle layering and asymmetrical necklines with Khoon Hooi’s signature structured yet oversized silhouette. See the rest of the lookbook below.
