Day 5 of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear 2017 (KLFW RTW 2017) started with these array of Malaysian designers such as Lana, Nerdunit, Maatin Shakir, Andy Sulaiman, Yadotsa and Zakwan Anuar. Each with their own distinct styles and aesthetics which we can’t help falling in love with!
Lana
With Luqman Mansor taking over the creative reins of the brand, the designer is bringing Sarawak’s aesthetics to modern day design with his first 12-piece collection which debuted at KLFW RTW 2017. Playing with prints and embellishment, this collection pays homage to the pop culture phenomenon of maximalism with a touch of shapes, lines, and colours of Sarawak’s rivers.
Nerdunit
Nerdunit brought their army to the runway when it debuted its latest “Emblem Camo” collection which took 8 months to perfect and it’s launching around mid-September. As quoted by Nerdunit, “We make clothes that hold the attention of the entire room when you walk in, yet down to earth enough to wear them out on a daily basis.” It’s all about making a statement, Nerdunit style! Keep a lookout for our interview with the founder, Ron about this collection.

Maatin Shakir
Maatin Shakir brought his signature romance aesthetics with a touch of safari. With animal prints juxtaposed with flowy garments, and modern take on ‘bedong’ also known as ‘selempang’ inspired from the Iban traditional costume.
Andy Sulaiman
Andy Sulaiman showcased his Spring Summer 2018 collection with barefoot models in airy structured shirts with touches of butterflies and oversized pussy bow collars. Who said men can’t rock these?
Yadotsa
It was all about patchwork textures of velvet and chiffon while staying chic with a feminine flow at Yadotsa’s Spring Summer 2018 collection.
Zakwan Anuar
Zakwan Anuar brought a balance of structured and relaxed silhouettes and added sporty details such as an oversized bomber jacket and cord ties to its Spring Summer 2018 collection at KLFW RTW 2017.
