Last night marks the official Grand Launch of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear 2017 (KLFW RTW 2017), a 5-day event filled with back-to-back fashion shows featuring never-before-seen Ready-to-Wear collections by over 150 designers from all across Asia. The launch was officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBhg. Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin at Bukit Bintang Entrance, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
The remarkable evening united VIPs, partners, sponsors and members of the media where guests were treated to captivating performance by Malaysian own soul queen, Ning Baizura, drum troupe and cultural dance. The glamorous occasion was rounded up with exclusive sneak peeks of this year’s creations from brands like Innai Red, Nabil Volkers, Super Sunday and more.
Founded in 2013, KLFW RTW celebrates its 5th anniversary this year and it’s about to get bigger than ever. Working closely with Tourism Malaysia and their Preferred Travel Partner, AirAsia, KLFW RTW 2017 will be inviting six international guest designers from China, India, Australia, Japan, Philippines and South Korea to facilitate a creative bi-lateral dialogue between our local and international designers and to promote the international growth of local designers in the future.
KLFW RTW 2017 on-ground campaign #IAMHOMEGROWN, jointly conceptualized by FashionValet and KLFW RTW 2017 to instill pride and recognition of Malaysian talents in our fashion and creative industry will be revealed to the public for the first time on 16th August 2017. The Grand Winner of the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer 2016, Anuruk Jaidee will also be making his debut Runway Collection 2016 at the KLFW RTW 2017.
In collaboration with Yayasan Noor Al-Syakur (YANAS), 6 young and emerging designers will be showcasing their reinvented collection of Batik in contemporary ready-to-wear fashion under the newly Fashion Forward Ready to Wear: Batik Kelantan segment. Founder and president of Malaysia’s leading luxury retailer, The Melium Group, and creative director of her eponymous label, Farah Khan, will be presenting her exclusive Runway collection for KLFW RTW 2017 in conjunction with her 10th Year Anniversary.
