Team USA’s star swimmer Michael Phelps is bringing along a custom made pair of Under Armour’s new training shoe, the Architech, to the Rio Olympics 2016.
Phelps’ footwear features a personal touch to provide an additional source of motivation as he heads into competition. The patriotic red, white, and blue look features a nod Phelps’ 3-month old son, Boomer Phelps with a small footprint logo on the medial side as a personal reminder that Boomer is with him every step and stroke of the way.
The Olympic swimmer and fiancée Nicole Johnson welcomed their first child, son Boomer Robert Phelps back in May.
The UA Architech is the company’s first ever 3D-printed performance trainer that features a functional 3D printed midsole and 3D ClutchFit auxetic upper design that creates a “super-hybrid” trainer. This performance trainer gives athletes with the ultimate stability and cushioning to take on the most intense workouts. Earlier this year, the sneakers were a very popular that sold out quick.
Furthermore, Under Armour mentions a new colour of the UA Architech will be available as a limited edition offering to consumers in August on UA.com and Under Armour Brand House locations.
