Further to the use of 100% certified organic cotton as well as sustainable zippers, recycled thread, recycled zipper tape and post-consumer waste (PCW) in the brand’s entire denim range, Monki aims to increase the use of PCW in all products – and they have released a few special items made up of 65% PCW and 35% recycled polyester (for durability). By using PCW instead of virgin cotton there are savings of up to 4500 litres of water, per 1kg of fabric.
This is part of Monki’s sustainability efforts, which is in line with its Planet Power commitment where the brand is dedicated to only use recycled or other sustainably sourced material by 2030, and aimed to become climate positive throughout the entire value chain by 2040.
Monki’s FW20 Denim collection is already in store with key pieces include the high-waist and wide leg vintage fit, featuring pastel lavender, worn black and classic blue washes. The styles with subtle puff sleeves enhance the retro styling, and the co-ordinated sets are featured in both shirt and jacket combos.
