Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger continues its legacy of blending fashion with art through the launch of FLARE, a group exhibition featuring 27 new works by renowned artists Kengo Kito, Daisuke Ohba, and Kohei Nawa. Held at Tiger Gallery in the Onitsuka Tiger flagship store on Regent Street, London, this exhibition runs from October 10 to November 8, 2024.
FLARE showcases a collection of paintings, sculptures, and installations that explore dynamic interactions of space, time, and light. The exhibition delves into the interconnectivity of modern existence, channeling cosmic energies and human creativity. A highlight includes new works from Kohei Nawa’s PixCell series, incorporating Onitsuka Tiger sneakers, grounding the exhibition’s themes of movement and connection.
Inspired by a solar flare that occurred during the artists’ conceptualization process, FLARE reflects the celestial phenomenon’s energy, addressing both ancient cosmic forces and future potential. Each artist brings a unique perspective to the exhibition:
- Kengo Kito transforms circles into larger intersecting lines, representing interconnectedness and Zen philosophy. His signature “Hula Hoop” installations make a bold statement with black tubes symbolizing the energy of Onitsuka Tiger stripes.
- Daisuke Ohba’s light-infused paintings create a new dimension where space and time merge, offering a mosaic that celebrates humanity’s diverse cultures.
- Kohei Nawa’s works blend 2D and 3D forms, representing digital signals and the vastness of the universe, with his PixCell and Prism series symbolizing the body’s connection to the Earth.
Visitors to FLARE can expect a thought-provoking journey through evolving circular forms and cosmic energy, experiencing the paradox of interconnected worlds.
