Another brand has aligned themselves with ethical fashion, cementing the notion that sustainable can indeed be fashionable. Pomelo, a Bangkok-based fashion brand born with a global mindset, has launched its first sustainable collection, Purpose By Pomelo, and the brand is here to prove that fast fashion are capable of adopting sustainable practices for a better future.
Made entirely from eco-friendly fabrics and all purpose items sourced from Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the 12-piece collection make use of sustainable rope-dye technology to obtain pure indigo dye for its denim. Working together with the world’s largest organic cotton supplier has also enabled Pomelo to reduce water waste during production as evident in the making of the Purpose tee which saves 1,053 liters of water compared to a normal T-shirt. Also, in order to make everything recyclable, not one of Purpose item comes with buttons.
Putting the garment workers as a top priority, Pomelo chose to employ 218 women from a factory, most of whom are the main source of income for their household, to be part of the project.
From denim jackets to kimonos, tees, tote bags and dresses, Purpose By Pomelo has it all: the Purpose Love Tee and Purpose Abstract Motifs Tee for casual everyday outing, oversized denim jacket to add a little “ummph” to your outfit or simply opt for the Purpose Love Abstract Motifs Wrap Kimono for more breathability.
Pomelo is also upgrading the shopping experience to a whole new level with new arrivals dropping three times a week which includes new categories such as beachwear and premium range as well as more frequent releases of Alita by Pomelo, a fashion meets function activewear.
Purpose By Pomelo is available online at pomelofashion.com and on Pomelo app now with price starting from $19 USD.
