Swedish fashion brand, MONKI is back with this year’s #monkifesto and this time they are featuring powerful statements as “Words to live by”. Be it saying nope to unrealistic standards, being treated equally regardless of your gender identity or claiming ownership of representation in the media, MONKI encourages women all around the world to speak their minds and live by their words through the launch of their very special necklaces with empowering words such as Equality, Nope, Selfiequeen, Girls and Lover – conversation pieces on topics that MONKI feels we should be having.
First launched in 2016, this campaign is a continuation of MONKI’s Monkifesto campaign that sheds light on important issues that are central mainly to young women and everyone else.
This year, the #monkifesto campaign features five videos filmed by director and photographer Arvida Byström in Stockholm. In the videos, Giselle Massiah, Torraine Futurum, Vanessa Almeida, April Lin and Mathilda Lundqvist shared their thoughts on the words to live by and what it means to them.
Selfiequeen
“I don’t necessarily tick all the boxes of today’s beauty standards, but I’m still a selfie queen.” – Vanessa Almeida
Equality
“Equality for me means being treated equally regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religion. What’s not to like about equality?” – April Lin
Lover
“The most important thing is to be a lover for yourself.” – Giselle Massiah
Nope
“Nope to me is about control. Control to me is the ability to say nope and not feeling uncomfortable or ashamed by it.” – Torraine Futurum
Girls
“I feel very empowered when I’m around other girls.” – Mathilda Lundqvist

The necklaces will be available both online and in store from October 31st. 20% of the proceeds will go to Plan International and their work to support girls to be leaders of change.
