Adding on yet another fashion collaboration to its ever-growing list, Zurich-based streetwear brand Vetements is teaming up with classic American label Tommy Hilfiger for upcoming Spring Summer 2018 Collection. The collaborative collection marks the coming of two powerhouse names in their respective fields, injecting luxe to urban streetwear.
In an interview with WWD, Hilfiger said he met Vetements Chief Executive oOficer Guram Gvasalia about six months to nine ago, and received the collaboration call from Gvasalia two months ago.
“The fact that a disruptive designer like Demna [Gvasalia] would want to do something with our brand is a tremendous compliment,” said Hilfiger to WWD. “We agreed to it because we think it’s such a cool brand and think it will be an incredible collaboration,” he added. “I was very excited. What they’ve done is quite genius. They have their own rule book. They do what they want and do it when and how they want.”
In true Vetements way, the lookbook presents real people donning the pieces on the streets of Zurich. The unisex collection is set to release several trademark pieces from Vetements which includes oversized hoodies stamped with a flag and crest, short-sleeve T-shirts (with Tommy Hilfiger logo on the front and Vetements logo on the back), caps, beanies and socks. Think a colour story of gray heather, navy, red and fuchsia.
Hilfiger announced the news himself on Instagram with a preview of a red hoodie emblazoned with both their logos which was followed by a few sneak peek of the new range by Vetements.
The collection will be available for purchase come February 2018. Stay tuned as we unraveled more on the exciting collaboration soon.
