Thomas Sabo celebrated its grand reopening at a new location beside Make Up For Ever in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The sleek and contemporary decor coupled with a stylish chandelier and exquisite showcase display further give depth and opulence to the wider interior space.
In addition to the reopening, Thomas Sabo also presented its iconic Rebel at Heart collection, created by hand with precision craftsmanship and made from blackened 925 sterling silver with handpicked precious stones, characterised by the special feel for unisex design codes.
We also had a #QuickChatwithPamper with Lars Schmidt, Sales Director of Thomas Sabo Asia before the launch to find out more about the brand’s reopening and more.
1. As a Sales Director for Thomas Sabo Asia, what are the key differences between the trend in Asia and the European/American market?
For Southeast Asia, trends are mostly driven by different influences. But the biggest difference between Asia and Europe is the weather and that plays a big role in the trend. If you look at Southeast Asia, one may only be able to wear one layer of clothing due to the hot weather hence, jewellery helps one to express themselves by matching or layering necklaces, rings, bracelets and more. They’re also more experiential and open to try new trends.
As for Europe, because of the different seasons, they can always play around with different styles of jewellery to match with their outfit of the season. But they tend to be more conservative and play it safe with simple designs that are classic.
2. What are the Top 3 best-selling Thomas Sabo products in Malaysia?
We have so many different categories of jewellery, it’s hard to narrow it down to the products itself but in Malaysia, our best-selling collection is still the Charms, Sterling Silver, Karma Beads and Watches.
3. Since Mother’s Day and Father’s Day is happening in the coming months, what pieces do you think will make a great gift for them?
Other than our statement and iconic pieces, the personalized jewellery where you can engrave to make it more special to your mother and father. You can engrave it on the spot and choose to do it on a charm, bracelet and cuff.
4. With more competitors popping up by the year, what’s your strategy to keeping Thomas Sabo in the lead this year for the Malaysian market?
Staying true to our brand’s core, DNA and we have been in the industry for 11 years now so we look into ourselves more where we maintain our unique iconic designs which set us apart. For example, our skull designs where with one look, you’ll know that it’s from Thomas Sabo without looking at the brand’s logo at the back.
5. What do you think will be the next big trend in the jewellery world?
As a trendsetter in the industry, we think layering is a big trend as people become more confident in wearing jewellery. But what will always stay in trend, are our timeless, statement pieces which will match well with every season.
6. What is your favourite collection/pieces from Thomas Sabo?
My favourite is the Rebel at Heart collection because it’s so versatile and I can match and layer it for any occasion such as concerts, formal occasions and the beach.
