Good Vibes Festival 2017 (#GVF2017) has come to a close last weekend and about 13,000 festival-goers poured into the sold-out event at The Ranch @ Gohtong Jaya in Genting Highlands for the two-day international outdoor music festival on 12 and 13 August 2017, braving through the mud and rain showers for good music.
This year’s #GVF2017 is the fourth edition of #GoodVibesFest with an even bigger line up of international and Malaysian acts taking over four stages in verdant Genting Highlands, with a multitude of musical experiences throughout the weekend. With so much good vibes happening everywhere, we have narrowed down to our top 8 highlights from #GVF2017 in no order, because all of them are awesome:
-
Boyfriend Of The Year
The Boyfriend Of The Year Award goes to Hisham Kamil who popped the question to his girlfriend, Ika Aziz on stage during Kodaline’s anthemic-heavy, spine-tingling love song ‘The One’ performance. Kodaline’s frontman, Steve serenaded the couple after the proposal along with the cheers from the crowd. It’s also the first proposal that happened at the festival so congratulations to the happy couple!
2. G-Eazy Made The Crowd Wild
The Oakland rhymer and rap chart-topper, G-Eazy not only slayed with his rapping where he added some touches of Malaysia to the lyrics, bras were thrown at him. And as things were heating up, he stripped off his shirt too, much to the crowd’s delight.
Here he is with ‘Me,Myself and I’.
3. DJ Irama Brought Her Good Vibes To The Heineken Star Club
4. #ILYSB Lany
Because no rain can stop us from Lany’s soulful electropop beats. Here’s a snippet of Lany’s live performance of #ILYSB.
5. Partied All Night Long At The Electric Fields Tent
From electro house music to R&B beats from many awesome DJ’s such as JHin, Arabyrd and more, this was one of the hottest places to be.
6. Dua Lipa Gave Us No Rules To The Last Dance
With her smoky, soulful vocals and dance pop tunes, the songstress got us all grooving along as she swayed her hips and blew kisses to the crowd during ‘Blow Your Mind’.
7. The Kooks Made Us Ooh La
They’re one of our favourite British indie rock band so you can imagine how we were shouting along with the band as they performed most of their big hits such as Naive, Junk of the Heart, Ooh La, Bad Habit and more.
8. All We Want Is Kodaline To Come Back
We can never forget how we sang along to all of Kodaline songs under the rain which definitely sets the sentimental mood, tears were shed and memories were made. We got to speak with the band before their performance so stay tuned for our coming #QuickChatWithPamper!
Food village Good Bites offered even more scrumptious festival grub this year, from #Velinai, Softsrve, Curbside Cantina, Gatal, Bao Bar, Room 203, A Pie Thing, Godzilla Nachos, Kawan Kawan Rapat, Wok It and Mothership.
Apart from the music, festival-goes were kept occupied with a range of fun activities and bagged exclusive goodies such as the YOLO Festival Kit from official partner UOB YOLO. For extra exhilarating fun, the UOB YOLO tent came complete with a giant trampoline as adrenaline chasers soared into new heights. Over at the festival’s official telco partner U Mobile Zone, freebies, sweet treats and unlimited grooves were up for grabs, including U Munchies tokens worth RM20 exclusively for U Mobile customers. The zone also featured the Unlimited Room, an iconic kaleidoscopic installation presenting the illusion of infinite space.
Good Vibes Festival is supported by Ministry of Tourism and Culture and Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) with Resorts World Genting as official venue partner, Grab as official transport partner, U Mobile as official telco partner and UOB YOLO as the official credit card.
