It was a night of glittering affair when Sanjeda John, a 25 year old of Dusun-Indian parentage from Sabah won the coveted Miss Grand Malaysia 2017 title. Sanjeda, a biomedical student and a karate instructor in her hometown Kota Kinabalu was consistent in her performance throughout the pageant coronation night held at Grand Pacific Ballroom, Evolve Concept Mall in Ara Damansara.
Sanjeda received total prizes worth RM28, 888 from CERES Jewelry, Skin Gym Aesthetic Clinic and Park Lane Jewelry. Sanjeda will represent Malaysia to Miss Grand International 2017 in Vietnam from 5 to 25 October.
The same night, Sanjna Suri, a 26 year old pharmacist and professional singer was also crowned Miss Intercontinental Malaysia 2017 and receiving total prizes worth RM23, 888. Sanjna earned the right to represent Malaysia to Miss Intercontinental 2017 to be held in India on 24 November. The first runner up and second runner up were Cass Chen from Kuala Lumpur and Fiolla Redup from Sarawak respectively. All winners were crowned by Dr Ranmeet Jassal, Miss Grand Malaysia 2016.
The coronation event was also attended and witnessed by Mr Nawat Itsaragrisil, President and Founder, Miss Grand International Organization along with Ariska Putri Pertiwi, Miss Grand International 2016.
Miss Grand Malaysia also collaborates with Tanma Federation that overlooks the activities of resilient Myanmar refugee women centres in the Klang Valley to further promote Miss Grand International Organization mission of ‘Stop the War and Violence’.
