The prestigious annual cycling race, Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2016 flagged off at Kangar, Perlis on February 24, 2016 with 22 participating teams from 32 countries. The 21st edition of Asia’s top road cycling race will take the cyclists through 8 stages over 8 days crossing 8 states and 2 Federal Territories in Peninsular Malaysia from Perlis to Johor.
Stage 1 (February 24): Kangar – Baling 165.5km
Stage 2 (February 25): Sungai Petani – Georgetown 159.8km
Stage 3 (February 26): Kulim – Kuala Kangsar 107km
Stage 4 (February 27): Ipoh – Cameron Highlands 129.5km
Stage 5 (February 28): Tapah – Kuala Lumpur 149.9km
Stage 6 (February 29): Putrajaya – Rembau 147.6km
Stage 7 (March 1): Seremban – Parit Sulong 203.2km
Stage 8 (March 2): Batu Pahat – Melaka Loop 119.9km
Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) is the official sponsor of the sprint prize this year. The Sprint Champion – the leader of the points classification for the sprint challenge, will be presented with a teal jersey in each stage.
Public can visit BSN’s dedicated booths set up at the finish area at all stages. Each customer who saves RM5,000 through the Sijil Simpanan Premium (SSP) will receive one of 10 exclusive Teal Sprint Jerseys, on a first come first served basis. Apart from that, customers who save other designated amounts through the SSP will receive other goodies such as exclusive cycling caps and water bottles.
For entertainment, BSN will be having performances at all stages of the race. For children, there will be treats such as free flow of cotton candy, popcorn and ice cream at the booth. The promotion will be run at the booths set up for all 8 stages.
