The registration of the annual search for Lun Bawang’s beauty queen, Ruran Ulung, and headhunter warrior, Padan Liu Burung, is now open and can be made through the official Facebook page ‘Ruran Ulung & Padan Liu Burung’. Entries will close on April 25, 2016.
The annual beauty pageant and warrior contest is scheduled to be held on June 3 and 4, 2016 at Dataran Bandar Lawas, in conjunction with the annual Lun Bawang Festival. This contest is open to all Lun Bawang decendent from Sarawak, Sabah, Semenanjung Malaysia, Brunei and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Aside from the main title, there will also be several subsidiary titles up for grabs such as Miss/Mister Tourism, Miss/Mister Talent and Miss/Mister Photogenic. The overall winner is not just judged based on beauty and physical appearance but also knowledge on Lun Bawang’s culture and heritage. The annual search will offer RM10,000 worth of prizes.
“Sponsorship in terms of monetary and even scholarships to pursue tertiary education from corporate bodies is most welcome to provide support to this young indigenous tribe of Sarawak,” said Jude Benjamin Lisa, Organising Chairman of Ruran Ulung and Padan Liu Burung 2016.
