Pavilion Kuala Lumpur gears up for another year of spectacular festivities of award-winning precinct Tokyo Street as it celebrates its 8th Anniversary this July 2019. From now until 31st July 2019, immerse in all things Japanese with exciting pop-ups, an 8th Anniversary party and the highly-anticipated annual Japan Expo Malaysia 2019 (JEMY 2019).
Tokyo Street 8th Anniversary is inspired by the energy and vibrance of Akihabara, a buzzing shopping hub famed for Japanese anime, manga, figurines, retro video and card games. In addition to shopping for authentic Japanese merchandise and indulging in Japanese food, shoppers may also participate in Dream Yukata – for just RM10, rent a yukata and have a photo taken by Fuji Film, with all proceeds going to charity. Also, check out the Doraemon pop-up, plenty of arcade game machines and fun activity stations. For those who love taking photos, discover Japanese Insta-worthy corners by KLOOK: namely the Zen Garden pop-up and Dotonburi display at Level 6, as well as Torii Gate at Level 3.
Adding to the excitement, JEMY 2019 returns for an immersive 3-day all-Japan event gathering Japan’s most iconic cultures, music, anime, art, fashion, food, travel and live entertainment to Malaysia. Organized by G-Yu Creative Ltd and Siam Connection Sdn Bhd, JEMY 2019 returns for a 3rd consecutive year, bringing Malaysians a colourful and lively cultural exchange between Japan and Malaysia. Following the success of JEMY 2017 & 2018, JEMY 2019 presents another robust and fun-filled expo, filled with star performances and an exciting line-up. Held from 26th July till 28th July, Japanophiles head to JEMY 2019 for a big dose of Japanese culture, martial arts, cosplay, food, travel, education and of course, entertainment.
Further reinforcing Pavilion KL as a celebrity hub, JEMY 2019 will see the debut of Japan’s
largest female idol group, AKB48 (Akihabara 48) in Malaysia. The epitome of ‘kawaii’, members of AKB48 will perform live for the first time ever on 27th July 2019. The group is well known for its super cute outfits, amazing choreography and vocals, which will no doubt have fans to jumping, singing and dancing in excitement.
Other special performances and appearances include DJ Hello Kitty, Kousuke Atari, Yudana
Senshi & Thames, Kiiyama Shouten, Sorgenti and many more! This will create an immersive celebrative atmosphere for every Japanese fan so if you’re looking for an ‘Infinite Japan’ experience, this is definitely the event you don’t want to miss!
