This Ramadan, Jaeger-LeCoultre invites us on a celestial journey—where the moon, an enduring symbol of time and reflection, takes centre stage. In an exclusive media sharing session, the Maison unveiled not only its exquisite moon-inspired timepieces but also a breathtaking artistic collaboration that captures the essence of lunar cycles and the sacred rhythms of Ramadan.

At the heart of this celebration is the “Crescent to Crescent” art installation – a masterpiece by pioneering Emirati designer Khalid Shafar, created under Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Made of Makers programme. Spanning six meters wide and three meters high, the installation showcases 29 intricately crafted moons, each representing a day in the lunar cycle. With a stunning interplay of light and shadow, it offers viewers two immersive perspectives: one reflecting the moon’s evolving phases throughout Ramadan, and the other highlighting the Maison’s exquisite craftsmanship with delicate engravings inspired by its legendary guilloché technique.

Shafar’s poetic interpretation draws on the profound relationship between time, nature, and spirituality. As he eloquently puts it: “If Earth is the hour, the moon is the minute — a reminder that every minute counts.” This sentiment echoes Jaeger-LeCoultre’s dedication to preserving and reimagining the art of watchmaking, where celestial movements have inspired their most iconic creations.

The event also spotlighted some of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s most captivating timepieces, including the ethereal Rendez-Vous Moon and the groundbreaking Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 (Quadriptyque) – the world’s first wristwatch with four functioning display faces, capturing the complexities of lunar cycles with unparalleled precision.

Beyond horology, the Made of Makers programme bridges the worlds of craftsmanship and contemporary art. This collaboration with Khalid Shafar joins a distinguished lineup of global artists who, like mixologist Matthias Giroud’s celestial-inspired cocktails – The Moon Elixir, and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s master watchmakers, honour tradition while pushing the boundaries of creative expression.

The “Crescent to Crescent” installation is on display at the Dubai Mall Grand Atrium throughout Ramadan, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the artistry of time.
