The Met Gala is essentially a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. Held on the first Monday in May, it raises funds for the fashion department which is the only one of the Met’s departments that has to fund itself.
Many look forward to the evening and tout is at the Oscars of the East Coast, being held in New York. Naturally, a black-tie extravaganza of this stature calls for the best looks from celebrities in attendance.
The theme of the night was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”
