Today is the day countless Apple fans have been waiting for. After months of rumours, Apple has unveiled three new iPhones – iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, at an event in Cupertino, California that doubled as a grand opening of Apple campus.
The latest iPhone X, pronounced iPhone Ten, packs more new stuff into any device since the original iPhone. It’s the biggest departure from the iPhone’s initial design since Apple shifted from the iPhone 5s to the iPhone 6.
Here’s everything you need to know some of the best features of Apple’s iPhone X.
1. No home button
The iPhone X is the first iPhone to completely do away with the iconic home button. It doesn’t include Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint scanner. As a result, a bunch of the feature’s functions have been moved to the power button, which Apple’s apparently calling the “side button” now.
2. Bigger screen
The iPhone X is similar in design to the iPhone 7. Imagine your iPhone 7, but it’s actually lighter and thinner. Unlike the too-large iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone X returns to being a good-size phone without compromising any features.
3. Better camera
The iPhone X comes with dual 12-megapixel cameras on the rear, with larger and faster sensors than on the iPhone 7, as well as an aperture of f/1.8, while the telephoto will have f/2.8. On top of that, the Portrait Mode which previously only possible with the iPhone 7 Plus rear cameras is found on iPhone X. The best part is, both cameras are optically stabilised, resulting in even less motion blur, and aid your photos in low light.
4. FaceID Unlock
The iPhone X replaces TouchID with FaceID. Once you set up Face ID, the feature essentially replaces your fingerprint.
The Face ID uses many cameras, including the front-facing camera and IR camera, to scan your face and let you in to unlock your phone, pay for things by holding it up to your face, and log in to apps, by holding it up to your face.
5. It ain’t cheap
The iPhone X won’t come cheap. Apple will release two versions, a 64GB version and 256GB version which will start at $999 (~RM4203). The iPhone X will be available for pre-orders on October 27 and be released generally on November 3.
