Chinese smartphone maker vivo has revealed a new selfie-centric smartphone – V5 in Malaysia.
With a 20MP front-facing front camera with softlight for selfies, V5 clicks decent images to keep selfie lovers happy. The device also features sophisticated photography software that allow users to capture their perfect moment even in the dark.
In terms of specifications, V5 features a 5.5-inch 720p display. Powered by 1.5 GHz octa-core, the vivo 5 has a 4GB RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 13MP rear camera, as well as a 3,000mAh battery. The device is set to run on vivo’s Funtouch OS 2.6 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will also house a fingerprint sensor for a lightning-fast unlocking mode in just 0.2 seconds, iconic vivo AK4376 Hi-Fi music function, Smart Split 2.0 making multi-tasking a breeze and Eye Protection Mode that filters out blue light to protect user’s vision.

Coincide with the launch of V5, this is also the brand’s first-ever appointment of an ambassador in Malaysia – Malaysia’s iconic singer-songwriter, Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza.
Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza also expressed her excitement in being the very first vivo and V5 ambassador. She said, “I felt so honoured and excited to be appointed as its first-ever ambassador and to be part of professional vivo team. This also marks my first collaboration with a smartphone brand in Malaysia. Right now, this will be my ultimate camera phone to take perfect selfies, so do check out my Instagram for more!”
Priced at RM 1,299, V5 will be on sale from November 26, 2016 onwards. Before the end of the launch, the smartphone brand also teased about the arrival of V5Plus, following the launch of V5.
