Who says you can’t have fun on a cruise? It’s a great alternative vacation with your significant other, your family, and even your friends. You would have heard of The Ship party, and weddings are even becoming increasingly popular on a cruise. Imagine tying the knot with nothing but the vast open ocean and an endless horizon (literally) ahead of you as you gaze lovingly into your loved one’s eyes. Pretty romantic, eh?

We’re here to share with you a couple of things you should never do on a cruise. Keep this in mind before you embark at your next ship port.
6 things NOT to do on a cruise
1. Don’t book your vacation based on price alone. There are different brands of cruise ships out there and they each deliver a different experience. They aren’t like air flights where the cheaper ticket is probably the best deal you’ll get. Look into the cruise package you’re buying, the last thing you’d want to do is end up booking a cruise full of loud hyper kids when you were hoping for a romantic getaway.
2. Don’t get into your port too late. Cruise ships run differently from an air flight. While most airlines would page passengers to board the ship and may even wait a little longer, cruise ships won’t. If it’s a 5.30pm departure time, then you’ll best be seated by 5.30pm. If your port of departure is in a different city/town from which you live in, be sure to arrive well in advance so you aren’t left scrambling and rushing to your cruise, which may leave you behind!
3. Don’t forget to book your pamper treatments in advance. Because there’s no alternative option, and you can’t just walk over to the next strip of shops, you’d need to book your appointments for the spa and fine dining in advance. You’re competing with however many number of guests on the ship, so this in advance. For everything else, just enjoy the cruise and let it take you where it leads.
4. Don’t overpack. Cabins on cruise ships are small and if you’re sharing, chances are you won’t have much space in the room. Pack light and bring a small carry-on luggage if possible. Be considerate of your roommate too, they’ll need to share the space with you so, less is more.
5. Don’t spend your time on your mobile devices. Use the time you’re on the cruise to disconnect and forget about Wi-Fi for a bit. Service will probably be a little choppy, like the seas, do not waste your days on the cruise looking for internet and thinking about the latest updates on social media, spend it wisely and relax.
6. Don’t hog the deck chairs. These lounge chairs are extremely limited and it’s almost like finding a parking spot in a shopping mall in KL. Be considerate and not kia-su about it, don’t leave your bag on the chair and expect that people will be happy about it. Give others a chance to enjoy the lounge chairs, they deserve it just as much as you do.
