This December, Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa is set to revolutionize Malaysia’s off-peak tourism season with its inaugural Monsoon Escapade 2024, a first-of-its-kind fusion of music, wellness, and nature. The festival, happening from December 27-29, 2024, is designed to redefine the monsoon season, transforming it into an attraction for both locals and tourists.
The Monsoon Escapade 2024 festival features top Malaysian artists, including Hael Husaini and Alyph, as well as renowned DJs CZA and BATE. These headline acts promise to fill the air with energizing performances and cultural richness, blending genres such as R&B, hip-hop, and electronic music.
Ammar Kevin Eu, Complex General Manager of Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa, highlighted the event’s innovative aim to breathe life into the East Coast’s quieter months. “By hosting this one-of-a-kind event in December, we are leading the way in making the monsoon season a dynamic, sought-after travel period. This initiative not only benefits the local economy but also provides our guests a unique perspective on the Perhentian Islands,” Eu shared.
Opened in April 2024, Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa is the newest gem on Perhentian Kecil Island, offering a stunning blend of modern luxury and traditional East Coast Malaysian charm. Inspired by the beauty of the South China Sea and the island’s rich culture, the resort is designed with sustainability at its core, integrating local materials and eco-friendly practices. The design thoughtfully merges indoor and outdoor spaces, showcasing natural elements like tree saplings and tree trunks, while intricate songket-inspired patterns add a cultural touch.
With 200 deluxe rooms and 17 private villas, the resort offers breathtaking views of the sea and a serene atmosphere, ensuring an unforgettable stay in a harmonious, nature-infused environment.
Beyond music, Monsoon Escapade offers a wellness retreat crafted to suit the tropical climate. Guests can rejuvenate at the Qi Forest Spa & Wellness with bespoke treatments in collaboration with skincare brand Chuck’s, from refreshing facials to traditional Mandi Bunga rituals. For fitness enthusiasts, certified trainer Hanis will lead “Pound” sessions—an invigorating full-body workout combining drumming with cardio exercises.
While water activities such as snorkeling and diving are not available during the monsoon season due to sea conditions, the festival makes the most of the island’s natural beauty and serene atmosphere. Festival-goers can enjoy sunrise stretches, nature walks, and beachside games like Giant Jenga and Limbo. Meanwhile, the Penyu Club offers younger visitors activities like batik painting and traditional Malaysian games, along with evening movie nights to foster a family-friendly atmosphere.
The resort’s culinary offerings will be in full swing, with guests sampling local flavors at DAPUR, enjoying fresh seafood at Sekoci, and sipping cocktails at The Greatroom, which offers sweeping views of the South China Sea.
Tickets for the Monsoon Escapade are available now, starting from RM3999+, and include a two-night stay at Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa, full-board meals, exclusive spa access, and festival admission.
