If you are into travelling, you probably know the idea of post travel depression (PTD) is an actual thing. To all people who enjoy travelling, we understand that feeling when you come back home from a wonderful trip and have a hard time to resume to your daily life.
It is certainly alright to feel that way. However we should not be dwelling on for too long. Here are some of the simple tips that you can pick it up to dive right back into a productive daily routine as well as keeping your urge to travel going.
Unpack as soon as you get home
The sooner you unpack, the sooner you are ready to be back into your daily routine and adjust quicker.
Toss your clothes straight into the washing machine, take out all of your gifts and group them together for your friends and family, empty your luggage and put it in your cupboard.
Go grocery shopping
Your refrigerator is probably empty or starting to release funky smell from fruits or vegetable that you forgot to clean it out before you went for a trip. Thus remember to clean your refrigerator, and head to the hypermarket and stock up on your groceries. This is because having your items right where you normally place will make your house looks like home again.
Talk about your experiences with friends and family member
People would normally ask about your travel experience so remember to share your stories or photos with friends and family members. Sharing your travel experience is surprisingly enjoyable and at the same time you could recount the fun of your vacation. Remember that you are not alone as many other experience PTD as well.
Indulge in your favourite food on your trip
I just came back from Taiwan less than a week ago and to beat my post-travel blues, I had bubble milk tea and a close-to-perfect beef noodle. The food may not be as good but it definitely lightens my mood and cheers me up. After all, the right food can improve your mood.
Start to plan your next trip
It does not matter when your next trip is. The best way to overcome PTD is to have more travelling to look forward to. Instead of feeling sad about your trip being over, direct your energy and plan your next trip by starting to save up for your next vacation.
