Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, in partnership with an event company, MD Events Asia Sdn Bhd, transformed its Grand Ballroom and foyer into a aircraft-like atmosphere and a real time airport ambiance, and bring together fine dining, special effects and visual ambiance to create a one of a kind dining journey for travel enthusiasts to relive the whole experience of flying and dining abroad amidst these unprecedented times.
The Grand Getaway, a new travel-dining concept that invites guests to be mesmerized by experiential travel and dining through a full-on in-flight experience – through an immersive 360° LED technology with avant-garde audiovisual effects, with the complement of a full 5-course dining expedition.
Upon arrival at the Grand Ballroom, guests will be welcomed by well groomed staffs in cabin crew uniforms at the check-in counter for verification of boarding passes. Guests may enjoy numerous photo opportunities at the foyer, which has been transformed into the airport terminal with the genuine life-size props of airport security, flight information board, and most fascinatingly, the 360° destination simulator. Come boarding call, the two-hour journey will take guests aboard Go Grand Airways where a multi-sensory ride to remarkable destinations around the world with gastronomic sensations and mind-blowing displays of sound, light and special effects awaits.
The experience is made even more exclusive for guests booked for First Class Suite or Family Getaway packages with the inclusions of a chauffeur service for return transfer from their respective residences and pre-boarding access to Go Grand Premium Lounge for a welcome cocktail.
The Airliner Menu features dishes that represented five different destinations’ cuisine. The menu began with Japanese Scallop with Wakame, Radish, Sesame and Shoyu Dressing from Tokyo, followed by California Clam Chowder from San Francisco and Forest Berry Sorbet from Moscow. The fourth dish also the main course was Oven Baked Lamb Rack from Venice (if you didn’t take lamb, you can request to change the lamb to fish). The dinner was completed with an assortment of local desserts including Mochi, Sundae, Ms. Pavlova, Sago Gula Melaka and Tiramisu. Coffee or tea is available upon request after the desserts.
This fine dining experience was a one of a kind dining journey that we thoroughly enjoyed. Each course was well prepared, and beautifully presented.
